We’re proud to partner Artists Open Houses and we’re moved by the continued, generous support of AOH artists, who kindly donate artworks to support Sussex Nightstop’s work supporting young people experiencing homelessness.
Now in its 3rd year, we’ve come up with a new name for our charity art auction:
Art with Heart runs alongside the May festival, with donated art showcased by artists in their open houses and also online, where people can place their bid. In an effort to make this an affordable art sale, visitors can pay the asking price at open houses and walk away with the artwork there and then. Or they can put in a cheeky bid of 90% of the sale price or more and see how they fare.
The auction launches on Weds 30th April and runs until Monday 2nd June.
Here’s a sneak preview of three donated artworks that will go on sale:
Carolyn Nicholls has supported our charity art auction since its inception in 2023. Her work is mainly in watercolour, often Sussex landscapes and we love the colours in this painting, which reflect the bright character she is. Carolyn’s work has been exhibited in London and Sussex and has been bought for private collections in the UK, Europe, Canada and Australia.
Showing alongside Carolyn is oil painter Linda Church, who specialises in still life in the main. This painting is a departure from her usual work, in that is is an abstract piece, acrylics on canvas.
Sarah studied Graphic Design at Brighton University and went on to lecture in Graphics, Photography and Illustration. She is one of Britain’s leading illustrators, working with organisations like the National Trust, John Lewis, British Airways, Marks and Spencer and Waitrose. She also produces limited edition fine art prints, investigating both urban and rural landscapes, with a playful use of light and graphic form.
We’re also very lucky to have the support of our board member, Chris Storey and Business Ambassador Richard Zinzan, who are hosting an open house in aid of Sussex Nightstop. They’ve lined up a talented mix of artists and media including Benedict Gubb; Diana Jazwinski; Ian Paterson; Novak James; Curio Studio; Plinth Home Furnishings and Martine Jans Jewellery.
More to follow on that soon!
